we were both
terrifically drunk
stupefied

frantically weaving in
and out of well kept yards
as the police
circled around
with spotlights lit

finally safe
we had made it
to mike's house

we caught our breath
while a few curious cats
lifted their heads at us

after smoking cigarettes
we calmed down
and
both completely agreed

that mike was a thoughtless
and reckless person
leaving this much booze
just lying around

"where's the corkscrew?"
